A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Retro Commander is a 4X post-apocalyptic real-time strategy wargame (RTS). Fight it out in a world where a cataclysmic timeline has transpired on Mother Earth. Wage wars solo, against the AI, or take on your gaming comrades and friends in cross-platform multiplayer matches. Form teams and clans and fight co-op style with the AI and other players for ultimate victory.

IMPORTANT: this game is till under development and considered pre-ALPHA. Single player against the AI and multiplayer including co-op multiplayer is fully working. There are nukes in the game. Also, there should be few bugs. The game has the following missing as of this writing: (1) no tutorial, i.e. refer to the video, (2) no campaign, (3) partly missing graphics, (4) incomplete balancing, (5) work-in-progress AI, (5) missing translations, (6) map uploads disabled, i.e. you can edit a custom map but it won't be working on future releases. The (8) in-game manual is also incomplete plus some other things I might have forgotten to mention.

DISCUSSION: please provide feedback either here or via Discord!

Thanks & Enjoy the Game!

I spent a lot of time playing this game and really enjoyed it! A few things that bugged me are the AI buddy taking building space right where you start, since I was a complete noob I didn't expect my AI buddy to just put blueprints everywhere before I could decide how I wanted to build my base, the audio completely disappears when your device goes into sleep mode with the game running, and the miners refine the resources at your allies refinery so there was a point about a hour or two into a save where i just could build anything because i had 2 materials left and the miners kept mining ores and refining them at my ally's refinery instead of my own.

Edit: I love the game and can't wait to see what it is like when it comes out.

Thanks for the feedback! The AI outputs a map ping before it starts building a base. You could just build your base at a different location. That said, I still need to do some tweaking. The green AI should actually build on the bottom/left.

re-Mining: that generally shouldn't happen unless your ore refinery is full? Maybe your ore refinery was full and the miners went to the ally's base instead? Was your refinery powered properly?

re-Audio: not sure about that? Can you post your log output?
